Birthstones by month

Birthstones by month

Discover your birthstone

In the 21st century, the concept of birthstones may fly over many a person’s head due to the perception that gemstones don’t hold much significance unless they’re used to adorn a piece of jewellery. While the adornment of silver jewellery, gold jewellery or platinum jewellery with precious gemstones is most popular, the knowledge of what the chosen gemstone signifies is what will make the piece of jewellery a lot more profound in meaning to he or she who gifts it and to he or she who receives it.

With Jewellery Day fast approaching (13 March 2019), we thought it necessary to take a look at what birthstones are about and how they may relate to you and your loved ones.

The term “birthstone” is pretty self-explanatory, right? However, if we dive a little deeper into the concept of birthstones, we will decipher that they are so much more. They are precious gemstones that are linked to every person’s birth, mainly by month. These gemstones are said to offer some important insight into an individual’s personality traits and life path. This may ring a bell to you. It certainly rang the zodiac sign bell to us. Just like zodiac signs, these gemstones are distinguishable by name, month and characteristics that individuals who relate to that sign can appreciate (or not) in themselves and others.

By virtue of their association with zodiac signs, birthstones are said to hold mystical powers that are released to those who wear it. Of course, you’re allowed to dispel all this information as mystical tales, but let’s be frank, if, for centuries, zodiac signs can play a part in helping individuals answer questions about what the stars have written for them, then birthstones can add just as much insight into an individual’s view of their life, in general. So, we at NetFlorist have compiled a modern birthstone list, by month defining qualities and attributes associated with each birthstone and the ‘powers’ that can be derived just from wearing it.
